13 Sept-Ottneil Baartman has been ruled out of South Africa's ODI series against Australia after suffering a left hamstring injury in the first-class season opener. As reported by Cricinfo on Saturday, Baartman only bowled five overs for Dolphins and did not bat in their second innings and will undergo further medical assessment to determine his rehabilitation time.
Duan Jansen, who is currently with South Africa's second-string side in Namibia, has been called up as a replacement.
Baartman is the second player to miss out on the series after Kagiso Rabada was also made unavailable for the ODIs with a hamstring concern. CSA has not provided an estimated time for Rabada's recovery and will take a call on his availability for the three-Test series closer to its start on October 9. Baartman could also be in consideration for the Test squad, especially as South Africa will need significant bowling resources across an eight-Test summer.
Jansen will join his brother Marco, who took seven wickets in the same match Baartman was injured in, in South Africa's squad for the three matches against Australia. Duan Jansen was the leading wicket-taker in the Namibia T20I tri-series, which also included Zimbabwe, and took five wickets in two ODIs. He has been rested for the third match, which is taking place on Sunday.Cricinfo
