The undergraduate (Honours) first-year admission test for the academic year 2026-27 of all the higher agricultural education institutions within agriculture cluster universities will be held on January 2, 2027. Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) will bear overall responsibility for organizing and coordinating this year's admission test.

Necessary preparations are being made in coordination with the relevant universities to ensure the admission test runs smoothly. Detailed information about the application process, eligibility to sit for the exam, number of seats, exam schedule, and center-related details will be published later by the

admission test committee.

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif said SAU will work with the highest priority to ensure the agriculture cluster admission test is conducted properly, transparently, and smoothly. He said all necessary arrangements will be made so that examinees can take the test comfortably in a pleasant environment.

Under the agriculture cluster system, students are admitted in a coordinated manner to the country’s agriculture and agriculture-related higher education institutions. Through this system, students get the opportunity to gain admission to multiple universities through a single admission test. As a result, a large number of students from across the country take part in this exam every year.

Nine universities in the agriculture cluster admission process are: Bangladesh Agricultural University, Gazipur Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Sylhet Agricultural University, Khulna Agricultural University, Habiganj Agricultural University, and Kurigram Agricultural University.

Vice-Chancellor expects constructive role from campus journalists in SAU’s development

A courtesy meeting and exchange of views was held between the university administration and the SAU Journalists' Association aimed at further enriching Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University’s (SAU) overall development, progress in education and research, and the university’s positive image.

At the meeting, held recently at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, SAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif was present as chief guest. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain and Treasurer Professor Mohammad Abul Bashar attended as special guests.

The exchange meeting held fruitful discussions on improving the university’s education and research quality, infrastructural development, increasing student facilities, improving the academic environment, and various contemporary campus issues. Emphasis was also placed on journalists’ responsible role in objectively highlighting the university's positive activities, achievements, and development initiatives in the media.

MoU signed between Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and Healthcare Diagnostic Center Limited 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed recently between Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) and Healthcare Diagnostic Center Limited (HDCL). Through this agreement, an initiative has been taken to make quality healthcare accessible to the university’s teachers, officers, staff, students, and alumni members.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif was present as chief guest at the event. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain and Treasurer Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar attended as special guests. Also present were the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Director of ICT, the Proctor, the Director of Student Counselling and Guidance, teachers, researchers, officers, and Farhana Sharmin Chowdhury, Corporate Sales Team Leader of Healthcare Diagnostic Center Limited (HDCL).

SAU Registrar (Agriculturist) Md. Nazrul Islam signed the MoU on behalf of the university, and Ummul Khair Fatema Khan Majlis, Head of HDCL, signed on behalf of Healthcare Diagnostic Center Limited. Under the MoU, SAU teachers, officers, staff, students, and family members plus members of the Alumni Association will be covered by this facility. Under the MoU, Healthcare Diagnostic Center Limited will provide various special healthcare services for the university community.

English Society, SAU formed

English Society, SAU (Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University) formed with Prof. Md. Akhtar Hossain as its Moderator for the promotion of English language Learning and studies. While giving formal approval of the Society, SAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Latif expressed hope that alongside English, the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University will also take on an institutional role in teaching a third or additional languages for preparing SAU graduates to be world-class at par with the requirement of international job-market.

SAU’s “Shouhardo-49” batch reunion, marked by reminiscence and tree planting

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) hosted the reunion event of its 49th batch, “Shouhardo-49” titled “Reunion-2026” in a festive atmosphere.

The day-long event of reminiscence and reunion began Friday morning with a tree-planting ceremony.

The program, held at 10:30 AM Friday (September 4) in the fourth-floor conference room of the university’s administrative building, opened with a recitation from the holy Quran by 49th batch student Hasan Waresul Kabir. Thiswas followed by a prayer for the souls of deceased classmates, led by Dr. Mizanur Rahman.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif attended as chief guest. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Nazneen Sultana, President of the Shouhardo-49 Batch Reunion Celebration Committee.

In his remarks as chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif thanked the organizers for arranging the reunion. He said, "Former students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University continue to make important contributions in agriculture, education, research, administration, and various professional fields at home and abroad. Reunions like this play an important role in strengthening mutual communication and cooperation among them. I expect that former students’ active involvement in the university’s development and progress will continue in the future as well.”

Teachers, officers, staff of the university, and a large number of former students from the Shouhardo-49 batch took part in the event.

Surgical and obstetrical boxes distributed among 98 students at SAU

Surgical and obstetrical boxes were distributed to 98 Level-4, Semester-1 students by the Department of Surgery and Theriogenology under the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (ASVM) at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU).

The “Surgical and Obstetrical Box Distribution Program-2026” was organized Monday (September 7) in the third-floor conference room of the university’sadministrative building. The boxes were handed to students at the event, jointly organized by the Department of Surgery and Theriogenology and the university administration.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain and Treasurer Professor Md. Abul Bashar attended as special guests. Also present as special guest was Md. Arifuzzaman, Senior Manager of the Agrovet Division at Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Dean of the ASVM Faculty.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Theriogenology. The chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif, handed the boxes to students, who expressed satisfaction upon receiving the surgical and obstetrical boxes.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Latif said that by receiving these surgical kit boxes, [the students] are now ready to treat animals worldwide. “Our university has a special focus on this faculty. We have introduced a new policy for the faculty’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. We have also formulated a policy regarding your demand for TA/DA (travel/daily allowance). I hope it will be passed in the upcoming Syndicate meeting.
