Masud Uddin remanded afresh in Tk 24,000cr embezzlement case

A court here today placed former Feni-3 lawmaker Lt Gen (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury on a six-day remand in a case accusing him of syndicating and embezzling Taka 24,000 crore and human trafficking.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as police produced Chowdhury before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Zunayed for the first time on March 24 had placed Lt Gen (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury on a five-day remand in the case.
 
A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained Chowdhury during a raid conducted in the Baridhara DOHS area of the capital on March 23.
 
Afia Overseas Proprietor Altab Khan filed the case with the capital's Paltan Police Station on September 3, 2024, reports BSS.
