Residents in Haifa and other northern cities seek shelter.

Air raid sirens sounded across northern Israel early on 8 March, sending residents— including those in the port city of Haifa— rushing into shelters. No casualties or damage were reported.

The Israeli military said its air defence systems were responding to “missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel.” Alerts were activated across wide areas of the north, and residents were instructed to remain in protected rooms or shelters.

The Home Front Command later lifted the alert, confirming that people could safely leave protected spaces in all regions.

Local reports said several missiles had been launched and most were intercepted before reaching their targets.

Missile attacks since the war began with US–Israeli strikes on Iran on 28 February have so far killed 10 people in Israel.
