At least 66 people were killed in a wave of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip overnight and into Sunday, according to local hospitals and medical officials. The intensified bombardment comes as Israel ramps up its military campaign in an effort to pressure Hamas into agreeing to a temporary ceasefire.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the latest strikes.

In southern Gaza, Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported receiving the bodies of 20 people killed in attacks targeting homes and makeshift shelters in the Muwasi area, where many displaced families have sought refuge.

In the north, first responders from the health ministry and civil defense services said 36 people were killed in multiple airstrikes. Among the dead were nine members of a single family, killed when a missile struck their home in the densely populated Jabaliya refugee camp.

Another strike in Jabaliya destroyed the home of the Berawi family, killing 10 people, including seven children and a woman, according to civil defense officials. The victims reportedly included two parents and their three children, as well as a father and his four children.

In central Gaza, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah reported 10 more fatalities in two separate strikes. One attack in the town of Zweida killed seven people — two children and four women among them. The second strike hit an apartment in Deir al-Balah, killing a couple and their child, according to hospital sources.

The latest casualties come amid a spiraling humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where ongoing hostilities have left large swaths of the population displaced and healthcare facilities overwhelmed.
