Ziaur finishes 11th in Open Int'l Chess
Dhaka, 4 Aug - GM Ziaur Rahman finished eleventh place in the 32nd Open International Chess Tournament of Cavala that concluded Friday at Kavala of Greece, said a press release.
GM Ziaur Rahman earned 6.5 points out of nine games and tie for the seventh place, but he finished eleventh position after the tie-breaking system.
Besides, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia became 24th with six points.
The eight or penultimate round games were held on Thursday last with FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia won against FM Nikhil Dixit of India and GM Ziaur Rahman split point with IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh of India.
In the ninth or last round games which held today (Friday), GM Ziaur Rahman won against IM A R Ilamparthi of India and FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia won against Loutragotis Dimitrios of Greece.
GM Bai Jinshi of China became champion in the event with 7.5 points.
A total of 160 players from twenty countries including thirteen Grandmaster, two women Grandmaster, eleven International Masters and four Women International Masters participated in the event.
