'Most distressing days of my life': Nusrat Faria on FB

In a Facebook post made from her verified page on Tuesday, Faria wrote: “I’ve gone through the most critical moments of my life in the past two days. I was mentally devastated.”

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues, members of the entertainment industry, media professionals, and the general public who supported her during the ordeal.

“I will forever remember the support and love I received from everyone who stood by me — from my fellow artists to ordinary people who spoke out for justice. Your support helped me return to you so quickly,” she wrote, adding a special note of thanks to journalists for their role.

Faria was granted bail on Tuesday after being detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday while trying to leave for Thailand. She was later handed over to Bhatara police and then taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office for questioning.

On Monday, she was presented before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and subsequently sent to jail by Metropolitan Magistrate Naznin Akter.

According to the case statement, Nusraat Faria and 16 others, including actors Apu Biswas, Nipun Akter, Ashna Habib Bhabna, and Zayed Khan, were accused in an attempted murder case linked to an anti-discrimination movement in the Bhatara area. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 283 others were also named in the same case.

The case was filed on April 29 at Bhatara police station following a court order.

Faria played the younger version of Sheikh Hasina in Shyam Benegal’s 2023 biopic 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation'.
