Oscar-winning music director A R Rahman was admitted to a Chennai hospital on Saturday night after experiencing dehydration, doctors confirmed on Sunday. Rahman had just returned from London when he started feeling unwell and decided to seek medical attention.

Doctors attributed his condition to dehydration, likely due to fasting during Ramzan. They assured the public that Rahman is now stable and no longer in danger.

Popularly known as ARR, Rahman is one of India's most renowned composers, record producers, and multi-instrumentalists. He has made an indelible mark on both Tamil and Hindi cinema and is celebrated internationally for his contributions to music.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rahman has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and 18 Filmfare Awards. In 2010, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award.

Rahman’s journey in film music began in the early 1990s with Mani Ratnam's Roja, followed by iconic scores for Bombay, Kadhalan, Thiruda Thiruda, and Gentleman. His Hollywood debut with Couples Retreat earned him the BMI Award for Best Music Score, but his global breakthrough came with Slumdog Millionaire, where he won two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

Beyond music, Rahman is deeply involved in humanitarian causes and charitable initiatives. He has been recognized with multiple honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rotary Club in 2008 and a spot in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in 2009.
