BMU stresses strengthening medical ties with China
Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) has stressed strengthening cooperation with China in medical education, research, training, modern medical technology and specialised healthcare, including introducing robotic surgery at BMU.
The issue was discussed at a bilateral meeting held today at Shaheed Dr Milton Hall of BMU with a high-level delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Government and Kunming Medical University.
Zhao Junmin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Yunnan Province, highlighted the longstanding friendly ties between China and Bangladesh and expressed hope for greater cooperation in healthcare, medical education, research, doctor training and modern medical technology.
Kunming Medical University Vice-President Dr Yu Qiang highlighted the memorandum of understanding signed with BMU, saying it provides a foundation for academic and institutional cooperation, including teacher and student exchanges.
BMU Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad highlighted opportunities to advance medical education and healthcare through exchanges with Chinese institutions.
The meeting also discussed cooperation in robotic surgery, kidney transplantation, physician training, research and specialised healthcare, reports BSS.
Later, the Chinese delegation visited BMU's outpatient department.
