Gold prices have surged to a new record, rising again just four days after the previous hike.
The latest increase of Tk 2,655 per bhori has pushed the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 181,487 per bhori. One bhori is equivalent to 11.664 grams.
The new rates take effect nationwide from today, following an adjustment prompted by the rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.
On 3 September, gold prices rose by Tk 3,444 per bhori, taking 22-carat gold to Tk 178,832. At that time, 21-carat was Tk 170,703, 18-carat Tk 146,313, and traditional non-hallmarked gold Tk 121,166 per bhori.
With the latest revision, 21-carat gold is now Tk 173,244 per bhori, 18-carat Tk 148,490, while traditional gold has risen to Tk 123,024 per bhori.
