Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said education, health and employment would be prioritised in the upcoming budget.

He said the government is prioritising the creation of more job opportunities, adding that both domestic and foreign investments are crucial to achieving this goal and are receiving equal importance.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury made the remarks this afternoon while visiting the site designated for a proposed government hospital in the Jele Para area near Patenga Police Station in the city.

He stressed the need to increase tax collection to strengthen the economy and attract more investment.

Earlier, the minister visited the land acquired by the Bangladesh Navy in the Muslimabad area adjacent to Marine Drive, on the west side of Banouja Ulka Abad Zone-2. He later inspected 14.2190 acres and another 2.7 acres of land earmarked for the construction of the proposed hospital in Patenga.

During the visit, Rear Admiral Md Moinul Hasan, Commander of Chattogram Naval Area, briefed the minister on the land's location, geographical features, communication infrastructure, surrounding facilities and future development potential.

Captain of Banouja Ulka and Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), along with senior officials from the Deputy Commissioner's Office and the land office, were present. Senior BNP leaders also attended the event.

Sources said the proposed hospital, if approved, would significantly improve healthcare access for residents of Patenga and surrounding areas, further strengthening Chattogram's medical infrastructure, reports BSS.
