Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian sarees, mobile phone displays and a Bangladeshi CNG-run auto-rickshaw worth an estimated Tk 1.57 crore during a special operation in a border area of Feni's Parshuram upazila on Friday.

The operation was conducted by the Feni Battalion (4 BGB) following a tip-off, according to a press release issued by Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman, commanding officer of Feni Battalion (4 BGB).

The seized goods have an estimated market value of Tk 1 crore 56 lakh 69 thousand.

The confiscated items are being handed over to the local customs authorities for further legal proceedings, the release said.

BGB said it continues to perform its duties with the highest level of professionalism, vigilance and determination to ensure border security and prevent smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal border crossings and push-ins, reports UNB.

Alongside diplomatic and operational initiatives aimed at bringing border killings down to zero, Feni Battalion (4 BGB) has been maintaining regular operations and intelligence activities in its area of responsibility to curb cross-border crimes, the force also added.
