BAUET Cup basketball, cricket tournament inaugurated

Dhaka, 11 Feb - The BAUET Cup basketball and cricket tournament inaugurated at the Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BAUET) campus at Qadirabad Cantonment in Natore district on Monday.

The event has been organised by the Games, Sports and Gymnasium Club of 
BAUET, a press release said here today.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BAUET Brigadier General Md. Mizanuzzaman addressed 
the inauguration ceremony of the event as the chief guest that took place on 
the university sports ground.

The VC emphasized that students' primary responsibility is to study, but they 
must engage in regular sports activities too to maintain good health.

Before the match, he met with the players of both teams.

The opening match was played between the Electrical and Electronic 
Engineering (EEE) Department and the English Department of the university.

The event was attended among others, by Treasurer of BAUET Colonel Md. 
Shawkat Hossain, psc (Retd), its Registrar Lt Colonel KFA Sohel (retd), Dean 
of faculty of Science and Humanities and Advisor of the Games, Sports and 
Gymnasium Club Professor Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Dean of faculty of Law Prof 
Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Dean of faculty of Electrical and Computer 
Engineering Prof Mohammad Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Associate Prof of Department 
of Civil Engineering and Proctor Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman and Assistant Prof 
of Mathematics Department and Student Welfare Advisor Md. Masudur Rahman 
along with department heads, deputy registrars, faculty members, officials 
and students.

In the opening match, the EEE Department secured victory over the English 
Department with a 4-0 scoreline. 

Md. Zahid Hossain, student from the 18th batch of the EEE Department, was 
named the player of the match for his impressive performance.
