BB cancels remaining tenure of Chief Economist

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has cancelled the remaining tenure of Dr Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, who was appointed as the central bank's Chief Economist on a contractual basis.


The decision was announced in an office order issued by the Human Resources Department-1 of Bangladesh Bank.

According to the order, Dr Akhtar Hossain's remaining contractual tenure as Chief Economist, under an office instruction issued on September 1, 2025 and appointment letter No. 28 of 2025, has been cancelled with effect from September 10, 2026, reports BSS.
