Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan

Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan announced today that the interim government has decided to appoint judges through a Special Judicial Service Commission. This move aims to accelerate the trial process for rape cases and other important legal matters.

Speaking at a press briefing following a special meeting of the council of advisers at the Chief Adviser’s Office, Rizwana explained that the government would soon initiate the process to appoint judges through this commission. The decision is part of ongoing efforts to expedite the judicial handling of rape cases and other critical cases.

Rizwana also highlighted the need for expanded resources in handling rape investigations, pointing out that the country currently has only one DNA laboratory. In response, the government has decided to establish two new DNA labs in Chattogram and Rajshahi to facilitate the testing of rape case samples.

In addition to judicial reforms, Rizwana shared that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has instructed advisers to continue monitoring market prices to ensure stability.

Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam were also present at the press briefing.
