Sirajganj Jamaat leader dies in road accident

Sirajganj, Oct 14 — Abul Kalam Biswas, 50, Naib-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami in Raiganj upazila, Sirajganj, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Monday night. 

The accident occurred around 8 pm on the Dhaka-Bogura highway near Chonka Bazar in Sherpur upazila, Bogura, as Biswas was returning home alone after attending a Jamaat education camp in Bogra. 

He reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the road divider. 

Local residents rescued him and rushed him to Bogura’s Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way.

Biswas was also the convener of the Raiganj Press Club and a resident of Simla Biswaspara village in Raiganj. 

Confirming the incident, In-Charge of Sherpur Highway Police Camp, Inspector Md. Azizul Islam, said, “The body was recovered from the site and handed over to the family as there were no complaints. A case has been filed at the concerned police station.” - UNB
