Collision between 2 trucks kills two in Barishal

Two people were killed in a collision between two trucks in Sonar Bangla area on Dhaka-Barishal highway in Uzirpur upazila of Barisal early Monday.


The deceased were identified as Sabuj Hawlader ,30, son of Dulal Hawlader from Mardoshi village in Uzirpur and Sohel 20, son of Ratan from Borgir Char village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia.

According to police, when a truck loaded with tiles was standing on the road a Barisal-bound mango-laden truck from Chapainawabganj crashed into the stationary truck around 3 am, leaving helper of the mango-laden truck Sohel dead on the spot and pedestrian Sabuj injured.

Sabuj was first taken to Uzirpur Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment on Monday morning.

A team from the Uzirpur Fire Service station recovered Sohel’s body from the mango-laden truck.

Gournadi Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminur Rahman said they recovered one body from the scene and sent the  injured pedestrian to the hospital, reports UNB.
