Bus-truck collision kills 4 on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

Four people were killed and 14 others injured when a bus rammed into a truck on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj early Saturday.


The deceased were identified as Zillur Rahman, 65, son of Bazlur Rahman; Dr Jalal, 65, son of Insan Ali; Abdul Halim, 55; and Hasib, 32, son of Md Bappi.

The accident occurred near the midpoint between Singpara-Nauapara and Hasara Bridge-2 when a Dhaka-bound ‘Hamdan Express’ bus from Jashore hit the truck from behind, said Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Following the collision, both vehicles lost control and crashed into the railing of the expressway’s median strip.

The injured were taken to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared two more people dead, reports UNB.
