Two sibling brothers die of electrocution in Chandpur

Chandpur, Mar 25 - Two siblings have died after being electrocuted in Shasankhola village of Kadla Union at Kachua upazila of Chandpur.

The deceased were identified as Khorshed Alam Bakaul (50) and his younger brother Abul Hasanat Bakaul (36), both sons of Kabir Hossain Bakaul from the same village, said Kachua Police Station Officer-in-Charge Azizul Islam and local UP member Md Sabuj Farazi.

The two brothers got electrocuted while pumping water into a paddy field using a shallow machine.

According to family members, the incident occurred near a mosque adjacent to the Bakaul residence, where the siblings were using the machine to draw water from a ditch. Suddenly, both came in contact with a live electrical wire and sustained severe injuries.

In an attempt to save his brother, one of them got further entangled in the wire. Hearing their cries, locals rushed to the spot, rescued them in critical condition, and took them to Kachua Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared them dead.

Legal action would be taken if the victims’ family filed a complaint, the OC said. - UNB
