Three killed in Chattogram road accidents

Two garment workers were killed when a bus ran over them in the Baluchhara area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station in the city today.


The deceased were identified as Arun Das, 59, son of Satish Das of the Baluchhara Jalalabad area, and Azizul Haque Gypsy, 22, son of Joynal Abedin of the Dakshin Muradpur Fakirbari area under Haitkandi Union of Mirsarai upazila.

Abdul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bayezid Bostami Police Station, said a bus travelling towards Hathazari lost control in the Bayezid-Baluchhara area and ran over the two garment workers on Saturday night, leaving them critically injured.

Local residents rescued them and took them to Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital, where the attending physician declared Arun dead.

Later, Azizul was shifted from CMC Hospital to Royal Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, a former Union Parishad (UP) member was killed in a separate road accident in Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Khalek, 66, son of late Chan Mia of Kamaldaha village under Mirsarai upazila, reports BSS.

Police have arrested the bus driver and seized the bus involved in the accident.
