Two killed as pickup crashes into tree in Feni

Two people were killed and two others injured after a pickup crashed into a roadside tree in the Mohammad Ali Bazar area of Feni Sadar upazila on Wednesday.


The deceased were identified as Mir Hossain, 45, of Madhyom Kachar area under Dharmapur union in the upazila, and Ahsanul Haque, 15, son of Siddiqur Rahman, pickup driver, of Sikderkhil village in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram district.

Witnesses said the pickup was heading towards Chattogram when the driver – Siddiqur Rahman – lost control due to excessive speed, causing it to hit two pedestrians, including Mir Hossain, before crashing into a tree beside the highway.

The accident left four people, including the father-son duo. injured.

The injured were taken to Feni 250-bed General Hospital, where doctors declared Mir Hossain and Ahsanul Haque dead on arrival.

One of the injured was receiving treatment at the hospital, while driver Siddiqur Rahman was given primary treatment, reports UNB.

Officer-in-Charge of Mahipal Highway Police Station Asadul Islam said the bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy and the pickup was seized.
