Israeli forces dropped 153 tonnes (337,307 pounds) of bombs on targets in Gaza on Sunday, following what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as a breach of the ceasefire by Hamas.

“One of our hands holds a weapon, the other is stretched out for peace,” Netanyahu told the Knesset. “You make peace with the strong, not the weak. Today Israel is stronger than ever before.”

The air strikes came after Israel said two of its soldiers were killed in an attack it attributed to Hamas. The Palestinian group denied any involvement in the incident.
