The Kremlin announced on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to negotiating with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "if necessary," while continuing to question the legitimacy of Zelensky's presidency.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated, "Putin himself has expressed a willingness to negotiate with Zelensky if needed. However, the legal basis for any agreements must be discussed, especially given the ongoing concerns about Zelensky's legitimacy."

This statement comes amid continued tensions between the two countries, with Russia maintaining its stance on Zelensky's legal standing as Ukraine's leader.
