France reaffirms support for GCC states facing Iranian threat
France has reaffirmed its support for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries following Iranian attacks, stressing the need for greater cooperation to protect regional security and stability.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot met with foreign ministers from the GCC countries in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, Barrot expressed France’s support for the Gulf states and condemned the Iranian attacks. He called for stronger coordination between France and the GCC countries to deal with the security challenges facing the Middle East.
Barrot also stressed the importance of joint efforts to address regional crises that could threaten international security and disrupt global supplies.
The meeting also focused on the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and keeping key international shipping routes open. Any disruption to major routes in the region could affect energy supplies and global trade.
France said it would continue working with its Gulf partners to promote regional stability and seek diplomatic solutions to ongoing security challenges.
