Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely to occur in many parts of the country over the next 24 hours starting at 9:00am on Monday, says the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

According to a BMD bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at some places across the country, it said, adding that day temperatures may fall slightly, while night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

Meanwhile, the country’s highest 149mm rainfall was recorded in Kutubdia in the 24 hours ending at 6:00am on Monday.

The BMD said a trough persists from Gangetic West Bengal to the northwest Bay of Bengal.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over the North Bay, reports UNB.
