Police recovered the bodies of two unidentified young men from the Atrai River in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur district on Monday.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the bodies, aged between 24 and 25 years, from the Atrai River near the Lakkhitala Bridge in Baniakhari Dolla village of the upazila, said Inspector (Investigation) Ahsan Habib of Chirirbandar Police Station.

Police suspect that the two were killed five to seven days ago before their bodies were dumped into the river, reports UNB.

A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team has been requested to conduct fingerprint scanning to identify the bodies, he said.

Police said victims might have been killed elsewhere and their bodies were later thrown into the river.
