Three children died after drowning in the water of a beel (wetland/marsh) while playing in front of their house in Ashtagram upazila of the district.

The tragic incident occurred this evening in the Paschim Alinagar area of the Deoghar Union in the upazila, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashtagram Police Station Ruhul Amin confirmed the incident.

Police identified the deceased as Mishkat, 5, son of Abul Kalam of Mainna Bari; Mahin, 6, son of Masuk Mia; and Tanil Mia, 5, son of Sattar Mia.

According to local sources, the three children—Tanil, Mahin, and Mishkat—were playing in front of their home this afternoon. The three children fell into the water and drowned.

After a long period of not seeing the children, relatives began searching various locations. Later, while searching the beel water on the north side near the house, they recovered Mishkat and Mahin. They were taken to the Ashtagram Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, reports BSS.

Ashtagram Fire Service personnel, having been informed, arrived at the scene and recovered the body of Tanil at 7pm.
