The bodies of two workers were recovered from a septic tank of an under-construction building in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni district on Saturday.
The deceased were Mayeen Uddin, 25, son of Serajul Hoque of Khagrachhari district and Bikash Chandra Das, 35, son of Rabindra Das of Bagerhat district.
Police and locals said the workers remained missing since Friday afternoon.
As they could not be reached on mobile phones, their families informed the contractor about the matter.
On Saturday morning, the bodies were found floating in the septic tank of the house owned by expatriate Shahidul in Thanapara area, they said.
Being informed, members of Chhagalnaiya Fire Station retrieved the bodies from the tank, said the fire station’s officer Mirazul Islam.
He said the workers might have died after inhaling poisonous gas in the tank.
Md Wali Ullah, additional superintendent of Feni police, said the bodies were sent to Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
