Police recovered the body of an unidentified man from beside a mosque near the new building of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.

The deceased, aged around 38, has yet to be identified.

According to hospital authorities, the man was found beside the mosque near the hospital’s new building in the afternoon.

Then he was taken to the emergency department of DMCH at around 5:30 pm, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Riaz Uddin, ward master of the hospital’s new building, said he noticed the man lying beside the mosque and, with the assistance of hospital staff, immediately took him to the emergency department.

“However, the doctor declared him dead upon arrival,” he said.

Confirming the death, Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, said the man's identity remains unknown, reports UNB.

“The body has been kept at the hospital morgue. Shahbagh Police Station has been informed of the matter,” he said.
