Nearly Tk64 crore in tolls was collected from vehicles crossing the Padma and Jamuna bridges over a 10-day period surrounding the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, according to the Bangladesh Bridge Authority.
A total of Tk36.11 crore was collected from the Padma Bridge between 21 and 30 May. During the period, 318,515 vehicles crossed the bridge, reflecting heavy traffic movement during the holiday season.
Meanwhile, the Jamuna Bridge generated Tk27.68 crore in toll revenue as 361,482 vehicles crossed the bridge over the same period.
Authorities said efficient management of both bridges helped ensure safe, smooth and uninterrupted travel for Eid holidaymakers, easing road transport pressure during one of the country’s busiest travel periods.
In a statement, officials said continuous monitoring and coordinated efforts contributed to a more organised and comfortable Eid journey for millions of travellers returning home to celebrate with their families.
