Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Thursday announced that China will send its largest-ever business delegation to Bangladesh later this month, led by Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao—marking a significant step toward strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries.
“We are confident that this visit will send a strong signal of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit,” said Ambassador Yao during a programme in Dhaka. “It will elevate China-Bangladesh economic and trade relations to a new level.”
The high-level delegation will include more than 100 Chinese investors, aiming to explore new avenues for collaboration. During the visit, the two countries will co-host a trade and investment exchange event, bringing together hundreds of Chinese and Bangladeshi enterprises to discuss potential partnerships.
In addition, the 15th meeting of the Bangladesh-China Joint Economic and Trade Commission will be held, where both sides are expected to agree on practical measures to enhance bilateral cooperation.
The announcement came during a lecture event titled “Five Decades of Bangladesh-China Relations: Towards a New Height,” organized by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS).
BIISS Director General Major General Iftekhar Anis delivered the welcome remarks, with BIISS Chairman AFM Gousal Azam Sarker chairing the session. Professor Imtiaz Ahmed, Executive Director of the Centre for Alternatives, Bangladesh, gave a keynote presentation.
The upcoming visit and bilateral engagements are expected to pave the way for new investments and deeper strategic ties between Dhaka and Beijing.
