Sylhet has come alive with an influx of tourists during the Eid holidays, providing a much-needed boost to the region's thriving tourism industry. Hundreds of visitors from across the country have flocked to Sylhet’s renowned destinations, including Sada Pathor in Companyganj, Jaflong in Gowainghat, and Lalakhal in Jaintiapur, eager to experience the area's natural beauty.

Travelers, both in groups and with families, have been visiting these scenic spots, spending their days immersed in nature and returning to their accommodations in the evening. The picturesque landscapes of Jaflong, known as the "Daughter of Nature," have particularly captivated visitors, drawing a significant number of holidaymakers eager to experience its breathtaking mountains and rivers.

The surge in tourism has brought renewed energy to Sylhet's tourism sector, with key attractions in Gowainghat upazila bustling with activity. Even on the third day of Eid, popular spots like Bichanakandi, Ratargul Swamp Forest, Pantumai Waterfall, Jaflong Tea Garden, and Mayabi Waterfall have continued to see large crowds of visitors.

Md Ahad, a tourist from Dhaka, expressed his awe at Jaflong’s landscape, saying, “The combination of hills, rocks, and crystal-clear water is mesmerizing.” Many other visitors, like him, have come to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of the region alongside family and friends.

Local businesses have felt the positive impact of the increased number of visitors. “Eid has brought a surge of tourists, and business is thriving,” one trader remarked, noting the economic boost that the influx of holidaymakers has provided to the local economy.

Enhanced Security Measures

As the crowds have grown, so too have efforts to ensure the safety and security of visitors. Saiful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (Media), reassured tourists by saying, “Police patrols are active inside and around entertainment spots, and we are ready to respond immediately if any issues arise.”

In Companyganj upazila, the local administration has been working diligently to maintain security and proper management at Sada Pathor. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Azizunnahar highlighted the collaboration between local police and Ansar forces to keep the area secure. “Around 1,500 boats have safely transported tourists to various spots without any incidents. The whole region is filled with a festive atmosphere,” she added.

The region’s tourism boom has not only invigorated the local economy but also showcased Sylhet’s remarkable potential as a top holiday destination, ensuring that both locals and visitors enjoy a safe and memorable Eid experience.
