Patuakhali: With the weekend coinciding with the public holiday for Shyama Puja, Kuakata has become vibrant with the arrival of tourists during this three-day break. Hotels and motels are fully booked, bringing a renewed sense of vitality to local tourism-related businesses.

The influx of tourists began on Thursday afternoon. By Friday morning, the entire beach—including the 'Zero Point' area—was bustling with visitors. Some were seen swimming in the sea, while others sat on beach benches, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the ocean.

Beyond the Zero Point, other spots along the 22-kilometer-long coastline—such as Lemburbon and Char Gangamoti—also saw an increase in footfall. People of all ages have traveled from far and wide to share the joy of the holiday with their families and friends.

The surge in visitors has kept hotels, motels, restaurants, food stalls, photographers, and small-scale vendors busy. Increased sales have revitalized local commerce, leaving tourism-related business owners delighted.

Md. Yasin, a vendor selling seashell products, remarked, "There is an overwhelming number of tourists in Kuakata during this three-day holiday. Our sales have gone up."

Abdul Motalab Sharif, president of the Hotel-Motel Owners' Association, noted, "Many tourists have arrived for this three-day break. If such tourist numbers could be maintained consistently, it would be highly beneficial for those in the tourism sector."

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mahipur Police Station, Md. Shamim Howlader, stated that both the Tourist Police and local police are on duty around the clock.

Yasin Sadek, the Kuakata Municipal Administrator and Assistant Commissioner (Land) for the Upazila, affirmed that the administration is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the tourists. - Gofran Palash
