Thailand's Likul wins boys' singles title at Rajshahi junior tennis

Rajshahi, 10 Oct  - Thailand's Likul Partcharapul clinched the boys' singles title of the 31st International Under-18 Junior Tennis Tournament, beating Chinese Taipei's Jiche Chen 6-4, 7-5 in the final at Rajshahi Tennis Complex today.

Likul secured the title after a closely contested match, holding his nerve in both sets.

Despite losing the singles final, Chen won the boys' doubles title with compatriot Wei-Cheng Tang, defeating India's Shiv Mohan and Arv Challani 6-3, 6-2 last night.

China swept the girls' events, with Jimo Song winning the singles title and the pair of Siang Jiang and Shuang Xu claiming the doubles crown.

The tournament began on October 5, featuring more than 100 players from 10 countries, including Bangladesh.

Tournament referee Joy Mukherjee said the boys' singles final was highly competitive, praising both finalists for their performances throughout the tournament.

Convener of the Rajshahi Tennis Complex Ad-hoc Committee and Additional Divisional Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Tournament Director Hasinur Rahman Tinku and other officials attended the prize distribution ceremony.BSS
