Bangladesh wins gold in South Asian Youth TT

Dhaka,  9 April - Bangladesh's U-19 boys' team won gold medal by becoming group champions in the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship held in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, India Thursday.

With this achievement, Bangladesh has also qualified to participate in the 
ITTF-ATTU Asian Youth Championship to be held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, from June 21-27.

On the second day of the meet, Bangladesh beat strong Sri Lanka 3-1 to become 
to secure the gold medal. 

Although Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal all scored equal five points in the 
group, but Bangladesh took the top spot by virtue of leading on a set 
difference.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the gold medal in the first South Asian Junior Under-
19 Boys' Championship held in Maldives in 2022. 

Bangladesh won silver medals in Arunachal, India in 2023 and Kandy, Sri Lanka 
in 2024. Last year, Bangladesh won a bronze medal in Kathmandu, Nepal.BSS
