Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, stated that the government is working to make internet access more affordable. "One of the key steps is reducing wholesale prices, which will result in a 10% reduction in the cost of bandwidth at the international gateway level," he explained.
In addition, mobile companies will receive DWDM technology at the backbone level, which will cut telecom companies' transmission costs by 39%. "We’ve already discussed this with telecom operators, and we expect them to pass on up to a 10% reduction in consumer internet prices," Faiz Ahmad added.
He also highlighted that Bangladesh is set to be connected to the third submarine cable, SIMUE-6, by mid-2026, further enhancing internet infrastructure in the country.
