In a letter sent to Musk on February 19, Dr. Yunus emphasized how Musk’s visit would provide an opportunity to connect with Bangladesh's vibrant youth, who are set to become key beneficiaries of this cutting-edge technology.
"Your presence would inspire young men and women across the country, empowering them to unlock their potential and contribute to a brighter future. Together, we can create lasting change," Yunus wrote, as quoted by his Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
The letter also highlighted the transformative impact Starlink’s satellite connectivity could have on Bangladesh, particularly for the country's enterprising youth, women in rural and underserved areas, and communities in remote locations. "Integrating Starlink into Bangladesh’s infrastructure will be a game-changer, fostering economic growth and creating new opportunities," Dr. Yunus noted.
In his communication, Dr. Yunus also outlined the next steps, instructing his High Representative, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, to work closely with the SpaceX team to ensure that all preparatory work is completed for the Starlink launch within the next 90 working days.
Earlier, on February 13, Dr. Yunus held a detailed telephonic conversation with Musk to discuss potential collaborations, further solidifying their shared vision of expanding internet access in Bangladesh through the Starlink satellite service.
