Dhaka stocks steady, Chattogram gains in early trade

Dhaka, Sept 11 - Stocks at the Dhaka bourse showed no significant movement in the first hour of trading on Thursday, while Chattogram saw a modest rise.

During the opening hour on the last working day of the week, the DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), remained almost flat.

The Shariah-based DSES index and the blue-chip DS-30 index also hovered nearly unchanged.

Out of the traded issues, the prices of 134 companies advanced, 164 declined and 92 remained unchanged at the DSE.

The turnover on the DSE crossed Tk 200 crore in the opening hour.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed an uptrend, with its overall index gaining 74 points in the first hour of trading.

Of the 87 issues traded, the prices of 37 advanced, 37 declined and 13 remained unchanged at the CSE.

The turnover at the port city bourse stood at Tk 2 crore during the period. - UNB
