Remittances Hit $1.57bn in First 18 Days of October

Bangladesh received US$1.57 billion in remittances during the first 18 days of October, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.

The amount represents a 3 percent increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting steady growth in the country’s remittance inflows.

From July to 18 October of the current fiscal year (FY2025–26), expatriate Bangladeshis have sent a total of $9.15 billion—up from $8.05 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year—marking a 13.6 percent rise.

Remittance inflows have remained robust in recent months, with a record $2.48 billion received in July, followed by $2.42 billion in August and $2.68 billion in September.

Bangladesh achieved an all-time high of $30.33 billion in remittance earnings in FY2024–25, registering a 27 percent increase from $23.74 billion in FY2023–24, underscoring the crucial role of migrant workers in sustaining the country’s foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.
