Nationwide drive against noise, air pollution

Integrated mobile court drives were conducted across the country today under the Environmental Conservation Act, resulting in multiple legal actions.


In Tangail, Natore, Narayanganj and Dhaka's Chawkbazar area, four mobile court drives were carried out against the production, sale, supply and marketing of banned polythene.

A total of nine cases were filed, leading to fines amounting to Tk 285,000, and 4,440 kilograms of banned polythene were seized.
 
Additionally, a polythene manufacturing factory in Chawkbazar was sealed and its operations were completely shut down. 

To raise awareness, leaflets were distributed and cautionary messages were delivered to shop owners, superstore operators and the general public.

Meanwhile, in Bandarban, one mobile court was conducted under the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006. 
One case was filed, resulting in a fine of Tk 2,000 and two hydraulic horns were seized. 

Drivers of several vehicles were also given warning notices.

Furthermore, in Dhaka's Nikunja area, a mobile court was conducted against vehicles emitting excessive black smoke, reports BSS. 

Five cases were filed, leading to fines totaling Tk 10,000, and the respective drivers were cautioned.
