Redwan arrived at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the morning and joined the party, leaving LDP.
He said disputes with LDP chairman Dr Col (retd) Oli Ahmed over seat-sharing with BNP prompted his decision to step down from the party.
Welcoming the new entrant, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that Redwan would contest the Cumilla-7 seat as a BNP candidate using the party symbol.
On Tuesday, BNP shared four parliamentary seats with its alliance partner Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh.
The party has already announced candidates for 272 seats in two phases ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election. Of the remaining 28 seats, five have so far been allocated, reports UNB.
