"Sheikh Hasina extensively tried to split BNP for over 15-16 years, persecuting each and every party activist. But, this fascist government failed to break away the BNP because the party posses Ziaur Rahman's political ideology," he said.
The veteran BNP leader told journalists as he laid wreath at the grave of Ziaur Rahman here along with leaders of the newly formed committee of Narsingdi district BNP.
Rizvi also enunciated BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's struggle to restore democracy, saying Begum Zia risked life in this struggle, languishing in jail for six long years.
"Yet, she could not be swayed from her path", he added.
Even, when Khaleda Zia was imprisoned, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, from far-off London, has been able to unite and prepare the countrymen winning people’s hearts by his leadership, he continued.
"The outcome of these efforts was July-August uprising," Rizvi said.
He also expressed his resolve to establish democracy by bringing all parties together.
He stated that democracy is something that must be deeply rooted in people's hearts and in the soil; otherwise, anti-democratic forces will repeatedly try to destroy it, reports BSS.
BNP will engage in discussions with all parties who have fought for democracy in the past and work together to re-establish it, the BNP leader said.
