BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed submits charges at the International Crimes Tribunal on 3 June 2025, accusing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six others over his enforced disappearance.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Tuesday submitted a formal complaint to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), accusing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six former high-ranking officials of abduction and enforced disappearance.

Salahuddin arrived at the tribunal around 11:15am, accompanied by a team of BNP-backed lawyers led by the party’s Legal Affairs Secretary, Barrister Kayser Kamal. A copy of the complaint was handed over to ICT Chief Prosecutor Advocate Md Tajul Islam.

The complaint names former Inspector Generals of Police Benazir Ahmed and Shahidul Haque, former Special Branch chief Monirul Islam, former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, and retired army officer Ziaul Ahsan among the accused.

In a statement, Salahuddin said, “The nation demands justice. Not just for the incidents of July and August, but for all killings, disappearances, and torture carried out under the previous regime. This is a commitment of the BNP.”

He urged victims of enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killings to come forward with complaints and called for increased logistical support for the tribunal to ensure justice.

Salahuddin had earlier filed a separate complaint on 15 October last year, detailing his own disappearance. He went missing from Uttara on 10 March 2015 and was later found in Shillong, India, on 11 May that year.

He returned to Bangladesh on 11 August following the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August.
