Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has affirmed that the BNP remains committed to safeguarding democratic rights and the people’s right to vote.

He emphasized that the party will prioritize the greater national interest during the ongoing reform process.

The BNP senior leader made the remarks during a press briefing this evening, following a meeting between the Chief Adviser and top political leaders at the Foreign Service Academy here.

Regarding the reform initiatives of the current government he said, "The Reform Commission has been working for a considerable amount of time. Today’s meeting involved an extensive discussion on the proposed reforms and we presented our views accordingly."

He acknowledged that while there was significant consensus on many issues, some matters remain unresolved, reports BSS.

“We agree on many of the points raised by the Consensus Commission, though differences remain on a few. Nonetheless, BNP is committed to acting in the greater interest of the nation,” he added.
