BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed concern over the government’s unilateral decision to create a humanitarian corridor for Myanmar’s civilians, stating that political parties should have been consulted first.

Speaking on Monday during a mass contact program in Sheikh Bazar, Jagannathpur Union, Thakurgaon Sadar, Fakhrul remarked, "We do not want to become another Gaza. We do not want to be dragged into a war or allow foreign forces to come here and stir unrest. We are already facing challenges with the Rohingya issue."

While acknowledging that there is no objection to providing humanitarian assistance on an ethnic basis, he emphasized that the BNP’s top priority if it comes to power will be employment generation.

Fakhrul further stressed that the government’s primary duty is to hold elections where everyone can vote freely. "For the past 15 to 16 years, not only have we been deprived of our right to vote, but we couldn’t even reach the polling centers," he said.
