BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for national unity and dialogue to overcome the political deadlock surrounding the country's election roadmap.

"We have always believed that a new Bangladesh will emerge through dialogue and unity. I am confident that this unity will be achieved, and we will succeed," Fakhrul told reporters today (14 April) at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, upon returning from a medical check-up abroad.

Addressing ongoing speculation about a potential shift in the election schedule from December, Fakhrul added, "This issue too will be resolved."

Meanwhile, a BNP delegation is set to meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on 16 April to discuss critical issues related to the upcoming national election and political reforms.

The meeting is scheduled for 12:00 noon at the Chief Adviser’s official residence, State Guest House Jamuna.

According to BNP leaders, their delegation will convey a firm stance against any attempt by the government to prolong its tenure unnecessarily until June next year. They said the party plans to send a clear message to the chief adviser about their demand for timely elections and meaningful reforms.
