Fakhrul Calls for Unity to Build a Livable Bangladesh
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday urged democratic forces to prioritize building a livable and sustainable Bangladesh for future generations. "A ray of hope has emerged among us. We must all be more dedicated to rebuilding Bangladesh and work together to create a better future," he said.
Fakhrul made these comments during a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club, held in honor of the posthumous Ekushey Padak award given to renowned journalist Mahfuz Ullah.
Reflecting on the country's political struggles, Fakhrul emphasized that political parties had long fought against fascism and endured significant repression. "Fascism was defeated through our collective struggle. Today, we are filled with hope for the future of our country," he added.
Fakhrul expressed his satisfaction that Mahfuz Ullah, a journalist known for his commitment to social change and people’s rights, had been honored with the Ekushey Padak after his passing.
The BNP leader also remembered Ullah's crucial role in uniting political parties from all sides of the spectrum to strengthen the movement against Sheikh Hasina's autocratic regime.
