President congratulates PM on visionary UNGA speech

 
The President conveyed his congratulations to the Prime Minister through a congratulatory message this morning.
 
In the message, the President said the Prime Minister's speech clearly highlighted Bangladesh's national interests, aspirations of its people and the country's positions on important global issues.
 
He expressed hope that the speech would further uphold Bangladesh's dignity and position in the global arena.
 
The Prime Minister’s speech reflected Bangladesh’s advancement towards democracy following the end of fascist rule, along with a commitment to establishing democracy, human rights, good governance and accountability, as well as a resolve to build a prosperous, self-reliant and welfare-oriented democratic state. 
 
The PM's speech also outlined the "Recovery, Restoration and Reconstruction" (3R) strategy for rebuilding the country, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.
 
He added that the Prime Minister highlighted Bangladesh's positions and priorities on various issues, including the country's democratic journey, world peace, multilateralism, Palestine, the Rohingya crisis, climate change, the economy, employment, empowerment of women and youth, education, health and technology at the UN General Assembly.
 
In the congratulatory message, he further said the Prime Minister's speech presented an accurate picture of the severe pressure on the global economy caused by wars and conflicts, the energy security crisis, disruptions to the global energy supply system and the deterioration of the economic situation due to rising inflation.
 
Praising the Prime Minister's view of the United Nations as "the focal point for establishing an understanding-based global community", the President said the call for establishing peace through dialogue, diplomacy and mutual cooperation in a conflict-ridden world is highly significant.
 
Referring to the PM's commitment to "Bangladesh First: Bangladesh for All", the President said the statement reflected the aspirations for political and economic empowerment of the people and for building a safe, peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh.
 
The President described Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's address to the UN General Assembly -- following in the footsteps of his father, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia -- as a glorious event for the nation, reports BSS.
