BNP stands by people throughout year, not merely in polls: Anee
Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee has said BNP stands by the people not only during elections but throughout 365 days of the year, as it has done in the past, is doing at present and will continue to do in future.
The minister made the remarks today as the chief guest at a specialised free medical camp, eye camp and medicine distribution programme held at the premises of Mandari Zillur Rahim College in Chandraganj upazila of Lakshmipur.
The district unit of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) and Lions International District 315 A-3 jointly organised the programme.
The minister said everyone needs to pay greater attention to healthcare for children, women and elderly people.
He called upon the government and private sectors, as well as social organisations, to come forward to take healthcare services to people in underserved areas.
The minister further said the opposition says one thing in parliament and another outside it.
“They are protesting for gas and oil. They should understand that we took responsibility on top of a pile of ruins. It will take a reasonable amount of time to resolve the mess of the past 17 years,” he said.
Anee said the DAB has always come forward to provide healthcare services to helpless and distressed people.
“There are sufficient doctors and medicines at the free medical camp, and necessary treatment will be provided. If necessary, patients with complex illnesses will be taken to Dhaka for treatment,” the minister said.
At the programme, specialised free healthcare services, eye examinations, medical consultations and necessary medicines were provided to poor and underserved people in the area.
DAB President Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid, Secretary General Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil, physicians, volunteers and local dignitaries were present, reports BSS.
