Govt won't be allowed to stay if energy crisis persists: Nahid

Addressing a massive public rally in the city’s Jatrabari area, the NCP leader attributed the ongoing national fuel and energy crisis to governmental mismanagement, corruption, and "unprecedented looting". The rally, organized by NCP’s Dhaka Metropolitan South unit, presented several demands, including the implementation of the public mandate, a reversal of fuel-gas price hikes, and an end to political oppression.

"If this government cannot supply gas, reduce prices, or stop the extortion hindering businesses, we will not let them stay in office," Nahid said.

He further labeled the administration a "fraudulent and treacherous government," claiming it had deceived the public through the constitution reform committee and was handing over national resources to those who financed its election.

Expressing concerns over national sovereignty and foreign relations, the Opposition Chief Whip stated that citizens would not accept Tarique Rahman's visit to India without ensuring accountability. He maintained that national sovereignty could not remain intact under the current leadership, noting its failure to stop border killings despite claims of nationalism.

The rally was also addressed by NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, Abdullah Al Amin MP,  among other central and city leaders, reports UNB.
